This was one of those experiences that I will treasure forever.
I loved it, but just a heads up, it's all about the wildlife, day, after day, after day. Starting out, you're like "OMG OMG", but then it's like "when's lunch".
Safaris may not be for everyone, but if you love nature, and wildlife in particular, then read on.

Drive Through Wildlife
That said, our safari was an absolute thrill ride across the savannas of Tanzania, taking in the Great Rift Valley, Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation Area, and Serengeti National Park.
We were lucky enough to have sought and found the big five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros), some of which were distant, but most were so close that you could almost…. be lunch..

Warriors
Along the way, we spent some time with a local Maasai tribe. I tend to steer clear of tourist traps purporting to be authentic displays of local culture. Usually they are not. This was different in as much as, sure, they were cashing in a little, but they were a genuine tribe first, with enough herd animals to support their vampiric habits.

Giving Back
We also made time to drop off some gifts to one of the many worthy orphanages. We had planned this in advance, and came prepared. Children of all ages find themselves here for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is disease and poverty. It was a beautiful and moving experience that has stayed with me.

More Photos
I had a wonderful time on this journey through a tiny part of the African continent. There are many more photos of this trip to share, so for the wildlife lovers, I have added an additional gallery of safari shots here.
